The Ironton production process leverages the circular use of resources by unlocking the value within unwanted/rejected byproducts and wastes of the iron and steelmaking industries, recycling them into a high-purity merchant pig iron product.

Mini Blast Furnace

  • Counter-flow shaft reactor where contaminants are removed and melting of metallic iron is performed
  • Primary product is merchant pig iron
  • Byproduct slag is also produced, a low-carbon supplementary cementitious material (SCM) utilized in the cement industry
  • Slag handling system
  • Pig iron casting

Mini Sinter Plant

  • Purpose-built, state-of-the-art design for agglomerating and fusion of fine feedstocks for further processing
  • Enhances feedstock flexibility, maximizes utilization of recycled and reclaimed materials
  • Improves process productivity and reduces OPEX by $85/NT
